Complete Body Exfoliation

The body exfoliation at the Kismet Inn bed and breakfast spa is an old cleansing involving a long and thorough process. The bathrooms at the inn are designed for this purpose. The process involves a long soak in either the soaking tubs which are custom made with tile, radiant heat floor or in the steam units. This is necessary so the skin pores open to allow better exfoliation. Here is a video by Michael Palin at a Turkish Bath in Istanbul - it shows how the process of cleanliness.

Kismet Inn's Signature Body Exfoliation

Our signature body exfoliation is an Old World Body Scrubbing called Kiseh Keshee or exfoliation, a ritual performed all over the continent of Asia from Japan and China in the Far East to Turkey in the West. In the days of the Ottoman Empire, the routine of going to the hamam (bath) involved an all-over body exfoliation using a natural fibre hand mitten known as kiseh. To this day, this beauty and cleansing ritual is practiced in Turkish hamams and indeed in the finest beauty spas and health retreats the world over.

This traditiional Old World body Scrubbing ritual takes place in your own bathroom. After soaking in our deep Japanese Style soaking tubs which are big enough for 2-4 people or steaming in the steam showers for about 20 minutes to open up the pores of the skin, a therapists will come scrub the entire body, i.e., the neck area, the legs, the back, the arms with kiseh using a traditional exfoliant. Following the body the face will also be exfoliated with the just exfoliant and finally the feet with pumice. Dead skin comes off in long rolls leaving skin deeply cleansed. Once the scrubbing is done you are left to wash your hair and body with soap & shampoo. The exfoliation gets rid of all the dead skin accumulated for years leaving you with a soft skin and feeling light. You keep the cloth, the exfoliant and the pumice.

This process has to be done in a timely manor you cannot rush it, one can enjoy soaking from half hour to couple of hours. Since it is done in a steamy room the body gets dehydrated so lots of ice cold water or sour cherry juice is brought to you to stop the dehydration. Once this exfoliation and washing is done there are soft Turkish Cotton bathrobes to wear and relax in your room. Once relaxed you apply almond oil to the body to keep the skin soft.

As final part of our Signature Eastern Body Exfoliation you will be served fine aromatic brewed tea with confections and pastry made at Kismet Inn, in your room.

For the entire service: $200

Kismet Inn's Sea Salt Bath

Sea salt bath in the deep soaking tub: $50.00

Sea Salt is beneficial because it contains Magnesium which is important for both combatting stress and fluid retention, slowing skin aging and calming the nervous system. Calcium is effective at preventing water retention, increasing circulation and strengthening bones and nails. Potassium energizes the body, helps to balance skin moisture and is a crucial mineral to replenish following intense exercise. Bromides act to ease muscle stiffness and relax muscles. Sodium is important for the lymphatic fluid balance (this in turn is important for immune system function). So we can see that bathing in high quality sea salt could replenish the minerals which are critical to our skin metabolism.

Kismet Inn offers two different kinds of Sea Salt Baths ---

Thai massage, also known as ancient massage has its origins in the healing arts of India. It is said to have spread to Thailand at the time of the Buddha and was developed in the temples there as an important part of aligning energy in the body. It promotes relaxation, health, suppleness in the body, energy and a sense of well being. It is done on a thick mat where the practitioner massages energy lines and acupressure points, stretches and opens joints, and meditates on health and loving kindness for the recipient. The person receiving the massage wears loose fitting clothing and enjoys relaxation and renewed energy. Thai massage promotes the body’s natural ability to heal itself.

Reiki $80.00
Reiki (pronounced Ray-Kee) is the ancient practice of bringing balance and health to the self, or other beings, by channeling spiritually guided life force energy through the hands. The practitioner is required to go through training and an attunement process with a Reiki Master. After the first attunement, which opens the chakras, or energy centers of the body, the practice of Reiki itself opens us to the greater possibilities of physical well being, mental clarity, emotional balance, and spiritual awareness. By gently placing the hands on or above the fully clothed body, a limitless supply of healing energy becomes available, through the practitioner, to the person being treated. Reiki reminds us of our true, sacred nature, and asks us to take an active role in our healing process.
